Gai Haiden is the outer hall of worship between the Romon Gate and the Nai Haiden, the inner hall of worship.

Behind the perfectly immaculate rabbit grove is the holiest building in the complex. The main hall (go-honden) houses the sacred body (go-shintai) of Inari. The building, which was built at the end of the 15th century, was built in Nagare-zukuri style, the Honden style most used in Japan. The asymmetrical gable roof extends outwards at the front and forms a portico that extends to the Haiden. The entire complex burned to the ground during the Onin Civil War in the mid-15th century, and everything you see was rebuilt after the smoldering ruins had crumbled to ashes.
