Enjoy the ancient lime tree avenue. The driveway to Castle Sjaloen is very old: it already appears on a map from 1550 by the renowned mapmaker Jacob van Deventer.
The lime trees in the driveway were planted around 1830. Since 1969, the municipality of Valkenburg has provided care by tree surgeons and regular pruning to maintain the berceau shape. This costs about 100 working hours each time.
