The approximately 20 meter high Obertor is one of Ahrweiler's four city gates from the 13th century. The gate consists of a three-story tower, four corner towers and a hipped roof and is located in the west of the city.
On the side is the passage for the Mühlenteich stream into the city.

The Obertor of the town of Ahrweiler from the 13th-15th c. Century is part of the former city fortifications and stands in the west of the wall. In urban usage it is also known as Gisemer Tor or Gisemer Porz or as Walporzheimer Tor after the nearby deserted town of Gesem.
