The world-famous painter Vincent van Gogh only lived in Arles for 15 months (from February 1888) and during this time he created over 300 of his works, most of which show the city or its surroundings. The forum square was the background for the well-known “night café - Café la Nuit”.
Although there is no picture of the painter in the city, his shadow is everywhere.
