The outlet temperature of the thermal water is 60 - 67°C, at the source it is up to 72°C. It is one of the hottest springs in Central Europe.

The fountain made of reddish-brown ceramic was completed in 1953. The figurative motifs were created by the sculptress Rita Brück-Landvogt (typical motifs for Burtscheid's story: abbess, swan as Burtscheid's heraldic animal, monk caring for a sick person, Burtscheid citizen, a man with a razor, a woman with a spindle and on the reverse Abbot Gregory of Calabria (also called Gregor von Burtscheid)
