With the exception of the Petersberger brewery, the brewery buildings erected between 1825 and 1914 are located in the south of Eisenach. The oldest buildings are the ice cellar, built in 1828, and the three-storey half-timbered building of the malt house, which was built before 1850, probably in 1839.
The listed property of the Eisenach brewery is now used as a climbing park.

The eventful history of the Old Brewery in Eisenach is closely linked to the Wartburg Castle and its region. The historical relationship between the two monuments is multifaceted: before the brewery was founded, Wartburg beer was brewed directly at the castle. Later, the brewing water was piped via a kilometer-long aqueduct from the Wartburg Castle to the brewery at the foot of the mountain. The brewery has been an unmistakable part of Eisenach's culture ever since.
