The chapel of N.ª Sr.ª do Socorro lies under a rock massif overlooking the Ave River and has a particular architecture with a square floor plan and a vault. The highlight of the interior decoration are beautiful tiles from the 18th century depicting the life of Christ, as well as the rococo-style altarpiece.

Hiking

The Capela do Socorro or Nossa Senhora do Socorro was built by Gaspar Manoel Carneiro, the Navy en route to India, China and Japan, and by Bárbara Ferreira d'Almeida, his wife. Construction was approved in 1599. The work was completed in 1603 .
