The Marienkapelle is located just outside the city wall at the Zülpicher Tor. It was built between 1519 and 1522 as a "holy house" (hilgen huysgen). The baroque gable dates from 1818.
The chapel was destroyed in World War II, but rebuilt in 1949. The warrior memorial altar and a Pietá come from the Church of St. John the Baptist.

Nordic walking

The Mother of God House (as the chapel is also called) was completed in 1520. The chapel survived the destruction of the town and castle of Nideggen by Emperor Charles V (HRR) - but the fighting on the Siegfried Line in 1944/45 caused considerable damage. Reconstruction from 1949 - in 2002 a restoration was carried out by the Sebastianus Brotherhood in Nideggen. The chapel received the baroque gable at the beginning of the 19th century.
