A technical monument since 1961 and very well preserved. Even today, two water wheels drive the plants.

World Heritage component Kupferhammer in the Saigerhütte Museum.
The Saigerhütte Olbernhau / Grünthal is a technical and structural testament to the metallurgy industry of non-ferrous metallurgy and is of unique importance in Europe and is one of 22 components of the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří mining region UNESCO world heritage site.
The smelting company was founded in 1537 to desilver black copper containing silver. The Saiger process was considered a top achievement in metallurgy for centuries. The Saigerhütte was also the center of copper processing in Saxony. The open-air museum, the functional hammer mill, the exhibition, the workers' house and the smelting school (currently not public) provide information about the history of technology and the work process and the historical-social structure.
TIP:
Become a master coin minter h.c. the Saigerhütte in Grünthal. Mint your “Grünthaler lucky penny” yourself at the historic mint in the Saigerhütte Museum and receive a certificate of honor as master mint.
