"Around 1200 a castle complex was built, which was surrounded by a water-bearing moat. Linz itself was first mentioned in 1220 as Lince. In 1581, Lord von Polenz had the moated castle complex converted into a palace. Further conversions were probably carried out in the 18th century. After 1860, Freiherr von Palm commissioned conversions in the neo-Gothic style. The castle had three full floors and a round tower." - sachsens-schloesser.de/schoenfeld-wasserburg-schloss-linz

After World War II the building was used as refugee accommodation until it was demolished in 1948 to gain building material.
