Alpamayo is a peak in the Cordillera Blanca of the Peruvian Andes. Due to the perfect ice pyramid, it is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the world.
In July 1966, the German magazine "Alpinismus" published a photo of Alpamayo, taken by American photographer Leigh Ortenburger, accompanied by an article about a poll of mountaineering experts who voted Alpamayo "the most beautiful mountain in the world".
