The Quebrada Santa Cruz mountain stream rises from the Nevado Taulliraju glacier (5,830 m) and crosses the high mountain range of the Cordillera Blanca from east to west. North of the Punto Union pass, the high mountain river is saturated by the outflow of the glacial lake Laguna Taullicocha.
