It is located directly at the confluence of the Werra and Fulda into the Weser.
This makes the Weser transhipment point the southernmost port on the Upper Weser.
The facility is right next to the federal highway 80 and is also within sight of the Weserstein. The facility at the Weser transhipment point today consists of a quay wall and the remains of the former storage and equipment rooms.
