The 705 meter high Wachtküppel, also known as the "Rascal of the Rhön", is a rocky hill northwest of Gersfeld. It owes its nickname to the fact that the mountain top, the remains of an ancient volcanic vent, peeks out over the plateau like a rascal.

The Wachtküppel is a wonderful mountain with a wonderful view. You can climb it in a short time and from its summit, which also has a high cross, you can look far in all directions of the Rhön.
