Local history museum in the gate tower
The museum was built by the Winnenden Historical Society during the 1970s / 80s. It has been run by the city of Winnenden since 1990.
The gate tower itself contributes to its special charisma. It not only offers the right setting for the exhibits, but is also worth seeing in its structurally original condition. The four tower rooms contain, among other things. Documentation on the development of the city and its historical highlights up to the issue of banknotes in 1923, a fully equipped prison cell, clockworks, a collection of roof tiles, objects from the history of the guild and trade and, in addition to old engravings and views, also a model of the old town around 1850. The top floor offers the Opportunity to relax and socialize, but also a wonderful view of the streets and houses of the city center.
Opening hours:
by appointment and in the summer months on the last Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Admission is free
