Unfortunately, I passed it unsuspectingly. So watch out!

Between 1937 and 1939 a 1:1 partial model of the German stadium planned by Albert Speer was built here at Stockbühl near Oberklausen. The stadium was to be built as the largest stadium in the world with 420,000 seats on the Nazi Party Rally Grounds in Nuremberg. In order to test the acoustics and the view from the upper tiers, a tenth of the stadium was built into the slope here on the "Stadionberg" (42,000 seats, 75m wide, 100m long and 70m high). In 1938 Adolf Hitler and Albert Speer visited the construction site to see for themselves the good acoustics and visibility. A large proportion of the 400 workers who worked on the construction site were forced laborers from the Flossenbürg concentration camp. With the beginning of the war, construction was stopped.

After the end of the war, the Americans broke down the wooden structure of the grandstand and the people in the area used the wood to rebuild their destroyed villages. So today only a few stone foundations remain on the slope, but they give an impression of the gigantism of the Third Reich.

Therefore, the place - although only a small sign at the bus stop refers to the history and not much of the original building remains - is definitely worth a visit.
