From here you can take the draisine to Marne on the old Marschenbahn. There is a small open-air museum at the St. Michaelisdonn train station.

        Draisinenbahn St. Michaelisdonn - Marne
Since 2004, the St. Michaelisdonn - Marne handcar has been a new attraction in the "Südermarsch" holiday region between the mouth of the Elbe, the Kiel Canal and the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park.
From May to October not only those interested in railways, fans of handcars and nature lovers can experience the old marsh railway line between St.Michaelisdonn and Marne. On nine kilometers of track, visitors roll through the landscape on a bicycle handcar, past marsh pastures and wind turbines typical of the west coast. A unique feature is that the handcars can be used with so-called "plug-in sails" for travel downwind; an experience without exertion when the fresh sea breeze blows.
From the endpoints in St. Michaelisdonn and Marne, draisine guests can visit the sights and unique natural landscapes in the area by bicycle, which can be hired at the draisine stations.
Before the draisine railway could go into operation in 2004, a few preparations had to be made. The former Marschenbahn route St. Michaelisdonn - Marne was reconditioned. This lay dormant for many years. On December 15, 1884, the railway line from St. Michaelisdonn to Marne and Friedrichskoog was opened. At that time, mainly freight trains with sugar beets to the St. Michaelisdonn sugar factory drove on the tracks. A passenger service followed later. This was discontinued again in the 1960s, and years later freight traffic as well.
