With the opening of an exhibition in 2000 as an EXPO project of the World's Fair in Hanover, the Ehrhorn forest adventure has become established as an attractive meeting place for visitors to the Lüneburg Heath. The former agricultural farm is over 360 years old and lies on the edge of a wooded dune landscape. The spacious and freely accessible terrain in the middle of the nature reserve radiates peace and serenity. There is a lot to discover:Explore on our own or with the support of the ant lions "Wezi" our 3.5 km long adventure trail.Watch our ants at work in a large "Formicarium". Take a look at our "insect village Ehrhorn" or just relax and recover under the old court oak trees.

Why ants?Complex systems are more than the juxtaposition of individual subsystems. Each member of a system interacts with other members. Nature is such a system and intertwined in a network of dependencies in which we humans are also part of this network. We have a big impact on such systems and therefore we have a lot of responsibility to take on. We have to learn to think in a network and share our experiences. In mediating networked thinking and environmental education topics, ants are a particularly popular and successful learning object and are a good example of the interconnectedness of all life. Ants in general, their state formation, their living together, their life strategies and their survival techniques fascinate people of all ages. A look into the world of the ants opens up to the viewer diverse network structures as well as dependencies and symbioses of nature.
