"Until autumn 1956, the deceased from Ellscheid are buried in the old churchyard near the parish church in Gillenfeld.
The deceased will be laid out in the house until the day of the funeral. Until the early 1950s, on the day of the burial, the coffin is placed on a wagon pulled by a team of horses
is pulled. The car then drives towards Gillenfeld, accompanied by the mourners.
The burial path leads from Ellscheid through the Wärfeld via the Hombüsch to Gillenfeld to the cemetery at the parish church.
