Borgo Streto's arcades are inviting - shops, groceries, gelato, cafes

Borgo Stretto (or simply Borgo as the Pisans call it), is one of the busiest streets in the city.

It is the historic center of Pisa where most of the tourist and city life takes place.

With its architecture, its arcades and its shops we understand the historical dimension of this city.

Narrow and enriched by arcades and buildings of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, it overflows with shops and leads from Piazza Garibaldi to via Oberdan (or Borgo Largo) when the arcades end.

Near Piazza Pozzetto there is a wooden tabernacle with a copy of the Madonna dei vetturini by Nino Pisano inside.

As already mentioned, the extension of Borgo Narrow is the elegant and wider Borgo Largo. The street is overlooked by buildings of medieval origin.

In Borgo Stretto, at number 41 we will find the 14th century Palazzo Scorzi Tober. It preserves a valuable portico with Gothic four-light windows.

The two "Borghi" constitute the main commercial artery of the city: on both courses there are shops, bars and various clubs. It is the ideal place for a stopover. In case you want to relax by eating or drinking Pisan specialties.

With all its arcades and galleries, it is also ideal for a walk to then end up on the Arno and admire its beauty.

Crossing Ponte di Mezzo, after the square you enter Borgo Stretto, a small pedestrian street in the center of Pisa where there are ice cream parlors, bars, shops and clubs.

If you are in Pisa for tourism, walk along it taking an ice cream and observing the shops under the arcades. Or go shopping.
