The Gutsdorf Wollstein was first mentioned in 1195 under the name "Villa Wolsten". In 1538, Landgrave Philipp gave the place to von Hundelshausen in exchange. Around 1880 the small village consists of 12 houses, a school and a church. Since 2000, the former estate has been inhabited by a community of Catholic sisters founded in 1991. They live here according to the Carthusian statutes of Saint Bruno in great solitude and in inner connection with God. The monastic "Sisters of Bethlehem, the Assumption of Mary and Saint Bruno" named the new monastery "Marienheide" in memory of the Lüneburg Heath, where they had previously sought a quiet and secluded place.

Hidden in a lonely valley and surrounded by deep forests, this monastery is in the middle of an area with a predominantly Protestant population. Since 2008 it has been a place of intense prayer for the unity of all Christians.
