The valley of the Fulda-Werra mountain region surrounded by these mountain ranges is called the Hessian-Lichtenau Basin and is divided in two in a south-north direction by the watershed between Fulda and Werra. While the western administrative towns with Lichtenau lie on the Fulda tributary Losse, which flows from southeast to northwest, the towns to the east are traversed by the weir that passes through the basin from north to south and flows into the Werra via the Waldkappeler Wehretal to the southeast. At the same time there is a hiking car park for the P10 directly in front of the town of Reichenbach.
