Originally, the gardens belonged to the summer residence "Mountain Lodge" of the Governor of Hong Kong. Today they are a public park.
Great views of the west and south of Hong Kong Island can be had from the lookout point in the Peak Garden (from the Peak Tower or the Peak Galleria you can only see to the north)

A fine view point of Hong Kong Island and the highest point you can really go on Victoria Peak. A good rest area with seats and benches.
