The Rennsteig leads past several hundred (approx. 1000) boundary stones and 13 Dreiherrensteine, which indicate a variety of former country borders.
The oldest dates from 1513, most of the stones still in existence are from the
18th century. The stones show the year the stones were set and a

To be found in the hiking area near Masserberg, around the donkey mountain. For all historically interested. On a route section of about two km on the Rennsteig, 8 historic landmarks show up at the original location. They testify to the border lines of various Thuringian dominions.
