Here a huge gritstone mound aptly named the ‘Tower,’ stands amongst the huge jumble of boulders called Alport Castles. It has a distinct castle appearance when seen from afar. The area is believed to have been formed during the largest land slip in the United Kingdom during the last ice age. Now they are popular amongst climbers, scramblers, and photographers.
