A very chilly hike today, starting at Calver bridge inn where you can park for free. Head up to Baslow edge where the views over Chatsworth park where you can also visit the wellington monument. Then a nice hike across the edges where you have impressive views from them. These are very popular edges in the peak district, today was a beautiful crisp day with plenty of sun, the scattering of snow and ice made it very scenic. Then a walk back to Calver along the river Derwent which was still offering a chance to take some pictures especially with the bridge arches where you got a perfect reflection. This walk was done with the NDWG ramblers walking group who offer walks most Saturdays and Sundays with varying lengths. https://ndwg.org.uk/walks/

A beautiful start to the day, getting up early for the sunrise over Stanage Edge which offers stunning views of the peak district. The sunrise was stunning this morning well worth getting up early and brave the chill. Stanage Edge offers a more peaceful sunrise than the likes of Mam Tor, it is much quieter. This is my favourite place in the peak district. Start off at Hathersage where you can get parked for free if you get there early, and then take a steady climb up past North Lees Hall to get to the top and walked along the edge, with the frost and ice gave some good opportunities for pics, then walked back down into Hathersage past the church where little Johns Grave is.

This was a really great hike, starting off at Cromford canal, if you get there early you can park on the streets for free otherwise there is plenty of parking. Walk along the canal to High Peak junction and up the steep hill, which is worth the effort for great views looking over Matlock and over to Riber Castle. Then to Black Rocks if feeling energetic scramble up tot the top for some fantastic views. Then on to the National Stone Centre where you can walk around learning the history of the area with many different information posts around. Then on to Star Disc where the disc has information around star gazing, be aware at the time i did this hike the viewing platform was not accessible due to the steps being unsafe. Then hike back to Cromford. This was a great hike due to having the opportunity to see some fantastic views but also along the way you had the opportunity to learn the history of the area, from the importance of the canal and railway to where the stones from the quarry were taken and used for.
