The municipality of Linkenheim was first mentioned in a document in 777 in a list of goods from the Lorsch monastery. At that time the place had a purely rural structure. The economic boom began during the German Empire. The flourishing industry in Karlsruhe also brought new jobs for the residents of the surrounding area such as Linkenheim. This is how the town hall with its memorial plaque for Kaiser Wilhelm, donated in 1901, came into being. The successor to the "Kaiser Chestnut" originally planted for Kaiser Wilhelm is in the immediate vicinity.
