The fountain sculpture by the artist Walter Wittek was created for the opening of the EUREGIO art route in 1995. 21 cubic stone blocks symbolize the 21 towns that lie on the Vechte from its source to its mouth in Zwolle. At the push of a button, water bubbles out of the middle of the structure and flows over the stones engraved with the names of the towns. The Vechte stones, arranged in a triangle, are proportioned to the Chapel of Grace, the church and the outdoor altar. Source: Schöppingen.de
Tip: There is a switch next to the benches that you can use to activate the fountain. Perfect for a relaxing break!!
