Heeswijk Castle has an eventful history that dates back to the year 1080. It has been destroyed and rebuilt many times over the centuries. The current form dates from 1835, the result of a thorough renovation and expansion according to the wishes of André, Baron van den Bogaerde, who made Heeswijk Castle his residential and working palace. He is best known as the first Governor of the King in Brabant after the secession of Belgium in 1830. Temporarily closed due to the Corona measures

On September 17, 1944, paratroopers of the American 501st Parachute Regiment land at the castle. They jumped off the wrong lock. Your actual drop zone is six kilometers away, at Veghel. There they have to secure the bridges as fast as possible. Through this error, the inhabitants of Heeswijk get to know a very special priest, the almoner Father Sampson.

Beautiful castle full of beautiful ornaments. I have not been inside, but a guide told me that it is completely decorated in the old style.
