"... The first signs of a settlement can be traced back to Roman times. The discovery of gold coins, potsherds and tool parts suggests that a settlement existed as early as the 3rd century. The first documentary evidence of the village dates back to 1171, In which the knight Ludwig von Deudesfeld is mentioned by name as a witness. Among other things, the founding of the nunnery St. Thomas an der Kyll can be attributed to him, combined with an extensive donation, which meant centuries of dependence for Deudesfeld under French rule (from 1794) brought a detachment from the ecclesiastical order.

But even the invasion of Napoleon's troops brought no real improvement. This resulted in taxes being paid to the French state and young men being drafted into the revolutionary army.

Another momentous event took place on September 12, 1888, when a blaze reduced 21 houses (out of a total of 80 apartments in the village) and 24 barns and stables, the entire south-western part of the village, to rubble within a few hours. ..."

Deudesfeld is a beautiful village. Starting point or stopover of some home trails.
