I've often been asked why this small survey is called "Louse Hill". The name actually has nothing to do with lice. Rather, a similar name can also be found a second time not too far away: North of the Lehof is the Mount of Olives (more of a small hilltop than a mountain), and in the extension another, small hill bears the name "Lauseknöchel". or, in old local dialect "Lüsekniggel." This hill has nothing to do with lice either!Rather, it is a place to "listen" - a place of silence. In the early settlement history of the region, these places served as a place of worship for the dead. Not far from the lause hill - in accordance with this knowledge - there are also several burial mounds.Today there is a bench here that actually invites you to listen - although the very early morning and late evening are preferable here because the silence is not interrupted by the noise of the nearby street. The regular dumping of rubbish testifies that this place is still quite popular today. Unfortunately, often by people who don't seem to have any respect for nature and certainly not for the history of the place - or who simply lack the necessary intelligence not to just throw garbage into the forest!
