Before the Gießen - Fulda line was completed in July 1871, a simple stop on the Oberhessische Eisenbahn was put into operation in 1870. She was in the middle of the field, Auf der Mücke, on the road between Merlau and Flensungen. The small original building opposite, today's train station, was demolished in May 2013.
In just a few years, the Mücke/Hessen train station developed into a goods transhipment point. Sawmills, inns, the post office, various commercial facilities as well as shunting and railway systems were built.
The station building, which is still in use today, was built in 1890, with an economy and extensions for general cargo handling.
