The National Monument MH17 is a memorial forest with a memorial to the plane crash of flight MH17 on July 17, 2014 in which 298 people died.

298 trees in the shape of a green ribbon have been planted. In front of each tree is a plaque with a number, name, age and nationality of a victim on it.
The forest is surrounded by a wreath of thousands of sunflowers.

At the heart of the ribbon of trees is an amphitheater with the memorial. The memorial bears the names of the victims in the form of a spiral.
Viewed from above, the memorial is shaped like an eye looking out into the sky.

The official unveiling of the monument took place on 17 July 2017 by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, exactly three years after the disaster.
