After lengthy discussions and disputes between the mining communities about the route, the royal government in Würzburg decided in December 1835 to build the Main Bridge in Marktheidenfeld. The decisive factor for this decision in favor of Marktheidenfeld was the more suitable building site and the easier road down into the Main Valley.
