The paddle pond in the Mühltal was created in 1895 and was named Kleinmühlenteich after the small mill there. After a while the pond became a private bathing facility (still recognizable by the building today). The name paddle pond came about when there was a rental of row boats on the Kleinmühlenteich. Today the paddle pond is popular with walkers, dogs and model boat lovers.

Climate change has left clear traces on the paddling pond in Langener Mühltal. The water level has regularly dropped to record lows in recent summers. This revealed cracks and subsidence in the masonry, making renovation work urgent. Geological investigations have shown that the entire shore area has been eroded and is no longer safe for traffic. Construction fences and diversion signs have therefore been installed to ensure the safety of the population.
