Maren-Kessel was created after the Second World War by merging the villages of Maren and Kessel through a new residential center between the two villages, where a new church, school and shops were built in the early fifties. The hamlet 't Wild also belongs to Maren-Kessel.

Maren-Kessel is one of the youngest church villages in North Brabant, founded after the Second World War. In 1944 the old villages Maren en Kessel ge-
evacuated, the church of Kessel was destroyed and that of Maren seriously damaged. After the war it was decided to build a new church and a new school and shops between the two villages, so that the villages were merged into Maren-Kessel. The Saint-Lambertus Church of Maren-Kessel was built in 1951/1952, on May 26, 1952, the church was consecrated by Mgr. W. Mutsaerts of the Diocese of 's-Hertogenbosch.
