Ernst von Bandel, artist of the Hermannsdenkmal.
Bandel had begun construction work on his chosen mountain in 1838, but only 37 years later, in the summer of 1875, did he complete his monument.
In the last years of construction, the artist lived permanently on "his mountain", in a simple log cabin, the "Bandelhütte".

In the Bandelhütte, which is located directly in front of the Hermannsdenkmal, you will get lots of information about the construction of the monument, see a model of the monument and learn a lot about Ernst von Bandel.

The museum would be a bit too much, but the small hut houses a well worth seeing exhibition about the construction of the Hermann monument.
