The Alte Land is divided into three miles, the first mile stretches from the Schwinge to the Läbe, the second from the Lühe to the Este, the third from the Este to the Süderelbe. This harbor was the central traffic hub for the second mile of the Alte Land. It was first mentioned in documents in 1651, but is certainly much older.
From here, the sailors brought fruit, bricks, brandy, flour, cider and other agricultural products to Hamburg, Altona, Bremen, Berlin and other ports with their barges, dinghies and boats.
