Even more than 10 years after the bad storm, the footbridge is still easy to walk on. Today you can clearly see how nature is reclaiming the forest.

Beautiful short hiking trail through a forest devastated by the storm
May 26, 2018
On February 28, 2010, the storm "Xynthia" swept across Central Europe and caused considerable damage. In the forestry department of Daun alone, 80,000 solid cubic meters of wood fell victim to the storm. To transport this incredible amount of wood you would need 2700 trucks. The "Xynthia footbridge on the Eifelsteig" now offers the possibility to commit such a wind throw area safely. Visitors can get a first-hand impression of the destructive power of a storm and learn about the naturally developing forest.
