The fort has been superbly prepared as a surfing museum. Entry costs €2. Always worth it. There it is also explained how these extreme waves can be caused by 3 ocean currents. Shallow to land, return from the beach and then the booster up from the depths of an Atlantic trench ending 100-200m from the fort, piling up the waves.
