The Sint-Laurentiuskerk in the Molenbeek-Wersbeek sub-municipality of Bekkevoort did not come all at once. Countless construction phases have been involved. The oldest parts date from the 14th century, such as the heavy square western tower. The portal is baroque again. The sober interior of the church is striking. The bluestone baptismal font is from the 18th century, the pulpit from the 17th century.

Interesting building, from different periods, built on a wooded projecting hill. Plan consisting of a fairly heavy tower with a corner turret in the southwest, a nave of three bays, flanked by a side nave on the north side, and a choir with three-sided closure.

Tower of sandstone on a square ground plan, already Gothic despite its closedness (14th century); front facade side on the ground floor provided with a sandstone baroque portal (date 1761 on the broker); nave side provided with a large pointed arch behind the organ; the cross-ribbed vaults, of which the corbels and the beginning of the ribs (mezzanine) are still visible, were destroyed; northern extension from the 19th century.

Mainly Gothic nave (mid-13th century) with north wall of iron sandstone provided with arches, which end in a dark side nave, which is cemented on the outside; south wall rebuilt in brick in the mid-18th century at the same time as the nave was covered with a barrel vault with Louis XVI stucco.

Choir of brick and sandstone, from the 17th century, built in late Gothic style (date 1648 on the buttress on the south side) then converted in the 18th century (windows and stucco); sacristy on the south side added during the second half of the 17th century.

From afar you can already see the tower beckoning... If you go in the right direction, it gets bigger and bigger...
