Boxerode was first mentioned in 1378. Since 1522 it had been a Hersfeld fiefdom of the von Trott family. In 1747 this passed to the von Verschuer family. At the end of the 17th century, the Verschuers became established in and around Solz, Boxerode and the Bauhaus through the acquisition of goods by the Dutch artillery colonel and commander Otto Christoph von Verschuer. Through his relationship with the von Trott family, he was accepted into their fiefdom in 1692. The manor house was built by Theodor and Clementine von Verschuer in 1870.

Cycling

Between Cornberg and Solz you reach Gut Boxerode in an S-curve. The manor building is clearly visible from the street with a striking gate entrance made of red sandstone with dates.
There is a very beautiful tree population around the main house with a great chestnut avenue.
On the other side of this property is the main farm, an organic farm, for the machines and another residential building.
