"The largest boulder discovered in the Haard so far stands at a crossroads and serves as a memorial for Jupp Meis (1916-1980), long-time warden of the Sauerland Mountain Association in the region. A plaque embedded in the stone in 1982 commemorates him. The "Dicker Stein "The erratic boulder, a gray-red granite, was only discovered behind the stone during deep plowing in 1973 and transported to its current location. Its dimensions are given as 2.20 x 1.64 x 1.00 m, with around 40 cm of the have to stick the longest axle in the ground."
