Those who arrive in Alfero cannot fail to stop and visit this splendid place

The Roman Bridge of Alfero is a fascinating bridge over the Alferello torrent. Although commonly called a "Roman bridge", it was actually designed in 1839 by the engineer Ulisse Dragoni to replace a slippery "palancola" without parapets. This structure made it difficult to cross the Alferello, especially when the torrent was swollen with water. The stone bridge, with a single arch, rests on large boulders and was built about a decade after it was designed.
