Tradition has it that on August 5th of an unspecified year, snow fell on a small plot of land: an extraordinary and miraculous event that induced the inhabitants to build a small church dedicated to the Madonna delle Neve on that land. Only around 1729 do documents tell of an oratory with such a dedication; but at least since the mid-17th century, an ancient and small chapel existed in the same place, left abandoned and forbidden, where an image of the Madonna frescoed on a wall was venerated.
