The Frauensee is a collapsed lake caused by leaching. It bears its name after the women's monastery founded before 1202. In 1774 the lake was deepened by 5 to 6 meters by drilling a tunnel. As a result, its area was reduced from 170 to 4 ha. (... from the information board)
