A prayer room in one of the Jewish houses is mentioned for the first time around 1730. The synagogue, which was finally built in 1841, could only be erected with the great commitment of the Jewish families living mostly in poor circumstances. For nearly 100 years, the synagogue was the center of Jewish community life. It was renovated and modernized several times, so in 1920 electrical light was installed.
