The Altmühl is a leisurely river that runs for around 200 kilometers through the heart of Bavaria on its way from Rothenburg ob der Tauber to just behind Kehlheim. Due to the leisurely flow speed, you can water hike almost anywhere on the Altmühl. The section between Treuchtlingen and Töging stands out a little. Here the Altmühl has made its way through limestone rocks over the years, which now flank the path in bizarre formations.
