The Neuhäuser Church is one of the largest wooden churches in Thuringia. It was inaugurated on August 28, 1892. In 1673, a small baroque church was built on a corner of the hunting lodge (today the city administration). In addition to the small community, this was used by the state father, Count Albert-Anton von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and his wife, Countess Aemilie-Juliane. The Schmalenbuche parish was founded in 1683.

The neo-Gothic wooden church in Neuhaus am Rennweg was consecrated in August 1892. The church, built on a natural stone base, can be found on a slope below the market square. On the outside, a two-tone slate cladding adorns the church, while the interior is completely wood paneled and is therefore the namesake. The church is built with a straight choir with side extensions, which house the sacristy, among other things. A total of 350 people can be seated in the church. The impressive appearance of the church is completed by a geometric-ornamental stained glass window and ornaments of grapes, leaves and vines, which are intended to reflect the theme of the house of worship. Slate on the outside, wood on the inside: The town church in Neuhaus am Rennweg is truly unique in the Thuringian Forest and definitely a worthwhile destination for a trip.
