The "town church" made of wood is the second in Neuhaus am Rennsteig. The first church, built in 1673 and built of wood, was demolished in 1894.On my rainy day, I got a personal tour from the pastor, as no other visitors were registered. Here I was very extensive and sincerely fed with facts. Since I was soaking wet I even got a warm tea.

Very nice old wooden church in which I spontaneously got a small private tour because the "Lord of the Church" was there ...
It is one of the largest wooden churches in Thuringia, consecrated in 1892. The church was built in the late Gothic style and is entirely covered with slate.

The Neuhäuser Church is one of the largest wooden churches in Thuringia. It was inaugurated on August 28, 1892. In 1673, a small baroque church was built on a corner of the hunting lodge (today the city administration). In addition to the small community, this was used by the state father, Count Albert-Anton von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and his wife, Countess Aemilie-Juliane. The Schmalenbuche parish was founded in 1683.

The Neuhäuser Church is one of the largest wooden churches in Thuringia.
It was inaugurated on August 28, 1892.
In 1673, a small baroque church was first built on a corner of the hunting lodge (today the city administration).
In addition to the small community, this was used by the father of the country, Count Albert-Anton von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and his wife Countess Aemilie-Juliane.
The parish Schmalenbuche was founded in 1683.
The parishes of Lichte, Geiersthal, Fischbachwiese, Habichtsbach and Scheibe-Alsbach belonged to the parish of Neuhaus.
The old wooden church was renovated and enlarged several times until it no longer met the requirements of a growing population.
The 26 year old pastor Hilmar Scheller campaigned for a new church.
The construction costs were borne by the Princely Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt State.
Baurat Brecht, architect of the princes Georg and Günther Viktor von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, worked out the planning and monitored the construction work by local tradesmen.
