The lake has a length of 2260 m, a width of 440 m and is 19 m deep. The Hohendeicher lake is also called simply "Oortkaten", because it is located next to the homonymous village. On the eastern shore there are permanent parking spaces for caravans. The western and south-eastern shores are used by bathers, divers and surfers.
